Context

For a newly launched fictional ice cream shop, I led the development of a sophisticated website and order application. Leveraging a user-centric design approach, the platform features an intuitive interface where customers can effortlessly browse and choose flavors with high-quality images.

Comprehensive user research and testing informed the design, ensuring accessibility and ease of use. To enhance user convenience, the site includes a robust search bar, interactive maps, and dynamic list views for easy access to store information. The streamlined payment process integrates secure payment gateways like Stripe and PayPal, offering a hassle-free experience.

My role encompassed project management, UI/UX design, front-end development, and quality assurance.

The project is scalable and future-proof, allowing for easy updates and expansion based on user feedback and evolving business needs.

Challenge

My responsibilities included user research, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing. The platform integrates secure reservation systems and is designed for scalability, allowing for future updates based on user feedback and evolving business needs.

Design Process

Initial Action

First, we conceptualized our target user, considering their location and persona. We then explored whether we wanted to create a specific store atmosphere, gathering inspiration from several websites that closely matched our ideal design aesthetic.

User Formulation

We began by developing a clear concept of our target user, including their location and persona.

Identification of Functional Requirements

The app was designed not only to provide information but also to allow users to order products and complete payments directly within the app. By analyzing and comparing similar apps and websites, we created a solution that met users' needs without being overly complex or lacking in functionality.

Design Concept

Next, we discussed the desired atmosphere for the store and selected a few websites that closely matched our design vision. Before diving into the overall design, we created the main design components to ensure consistency across the project, which helped accelerate the design process.

Style Guide

Hi-fi wireframes/Prototype

We developed a high-fidelity wireframe and prototype based on the site map and functional requirements, incorporating interactions and seamless page transitions.

IMPACT

As part of a workshop, I developed this fictional website within a limited timeframe. While constrained to the design process, I aspire to engage in longer-term projects involving design and user testing.

One of the key learnings from this project is the significant impact of early user persona development on subsequent production processes. Having previously worked extensively with clients, this project afforded me the opportunity to focus on clear communication and envisioning precise user profiles in the context of developing a proprietary product.
